"This is the beginning of an exciting new age for practitioners...the information these brain scans provide is very impressive. I am grateful to Brain Matters for the phenomenal contribution they are making to the changing landscape of behavioral medicine."

I hope other psychiatrists will take advantage of the educational opportunities that Brain Matters offers. This type of information will undoubtedly be part of the routine diagnostic work-up for persons with mental illness in the near future. I have utilized SPECT imaging with a patient since attending October's Nuclear Psychiatry didactic curriculum -- it was very helpful in clarifying the extent of head injury as a cause for treatment-resistant depression and sleep disorder. The patient especially found the information relieving as she no longer thinks of herself as a "treatment failure" and instead understands what has happened to her brain and why she has not benefited from many medication and psychotherapy trials... The interaction with colleagues during the training was very enjoyable. We shared many case discussions and talked of diagnostic and treatment advances that we are using beyond the SPECT technology. The shared enthusiasm for uniting brain science and clinical art was an outstanding part of the training experience. The exposure to present-day SPECT technology which identifies different brain states with objective measures is exciting. We need SPECT's imagery to overcome the challenges involved in treating people with neuropsychiatric disorders.

I found Brain Matters' course on Nuclear Psychiatry extremely interesting. I was stimulated to explore the seemingly vast potential of functional brain imaging with SPECT. I hope that it will help us elucidate the problems which underlie the refractoriness of eating disorders to current treatments. Others would do well to avail themselves of the valuable training available at Brain Matters, Inc.

The Nuclear Psychiatry training at Brain Matters is exceptional! It has been a great way to review neuroanatomy in the context of the most cutting edge neuroimaging technology available. This, in my opinion, is a Great CME opportunity for psychiatrists.
