High Definition Brain SPECT Imaging

The Clinical Process at CereScan

CereScan’s High Definition Brain SPECT Imaging centers differ from most radiology clinics in the use of our advanced technology and with our Patient-Centered Model of Care, which allows our professional staff to assist your patients from the moment of inquiry about our services through the receipt of the final SPECT report.

Each patient referred to CereScan is assigned a patient-care coordinator to facilitate a personalized and smooth brain imaging experience.  As soon as we receive your referral, our patient care coordinators will initiate a telephone consultation with the patient to describe the process, discuss costs and insurance reimbursements, answer any specific questions the patient may have, and schedule their appointments.

After appointments are scheduled, the patient-care coordinator ensures that the patient is aware of all scanning protocols and procedures.  To minimize the amount of time the patient spends in our imaging center, the patient-care coordinator facilitates the completion of intake paperwork prior to the first appointment.  The patient-care coordinator will guide the patient step-by-step through the entire imaging experience and provide optimal customer service.

CereScan also utilizes the expertise of licensed, Masters-level, mental health clinicians who have been carefully trained and are closely supervised by CereScan’s reading physicians.  Our clinicians have a solid understanding of brain SPECT imaging and neuroanatomy, and have many years of experience working in the field of mental health.

A CereScan clinician conducts the intake interview prior to your patient’s SPECT scans and a post-scan educational session to review the final report with the patient.  This review session is a complimentary service provided as part of the brain SPECT evaluation.  The findings of the report and the corresponding SPECT images are communicated in simplified language while strictly adhering to the reading physician’s findings. Helping patients correlate their symptoms with the findings in the brain SPECT report assists them in feeling validated and empowered.

The educational review session gives the patient an opportunity to get answers to basic questions regarding the report and to formulate questions meant specifically for you, the referring physician.  All questions from patients regarding specific treatment and/or medication are always deferred to the patient’s referring or treating physician.  The review session also covers healthy lifestyle choices and the importance of compliance with their physician’s treatment protocol.

Patients are encouraged to invite a family member, friend or other supportive caregiver to attend the review session, and we certainly welcome physicians to attend or teleconference into this session.  In addition, an optional 15-minute doctor-to-doctor consultation can be scheduled at another time for you to discuss your patient’s report with the reading physician.

Prior to leaving our office, your patient will be given a short patient satisfaction survey, so we may continually improve our patient services.
Our Patient- Centered Model of Care is compassionate and educational, and prepares the patient for a productive appointment with you, thus saving you valuable office and patient time.
